Smile With Confidence Again

Thanks to incredible advancements in dentistry, individuals are maintaining their natural teeth for extended durations. Despite this significant benefit, the chance of teeth becoming cracked or broken, often attributed to stress, clenching, or grinding, still exists. In such instances, the placement of crowns becomes necessary for ensuring the long-term success of the affected tooth.

What is a dental crown?

Protect & restore your teeth

A dental crown is a Zirconia cap shaped and colored to resemble a tooth, providing coverage and protection while enhancing the tooth’s longevity. The crown restores function by providing a sturdy new surface to chew on and absorbs chewing force to protect the tooth beneath it.

Dr. Job may recommend a dental crown in the following situations:

  • A cavity takes up too much of a tooth to protect with a filling alone.
  • Broken, cracked, or damaged teeth need the additional support of a crown.
  • A root canal has weakened a tooth’s structure, and a crown is needed to restore it.
  • You’re getting a dental bridge where we attach crowns to adjacent teeth for support.
  • A dental implant requires a crown to restore chewing function and appearance.

Steps for Getting a Dental Crown

In about 2 weeks, your custom crown will be ready, and you’ll return to our office one last time to have it cemented in place. Dr. Job will check to make sure the crown fits perfectly over your tooth and adjust it as needed so it is comfortable when you bite down.

Step 1

Tooth is reduced and shaped

During the initial visit, Dr. Job will ensure your comfort by making sure you are adequately numb. Once the tooth is numb, he will proceed to prepare it, reducing its size to create ample space for the crown. This process ensures a flush fit along your gums and achieves the perfect bite.
Step 2

Create digital teeth impressions

Utilizing cutting-edge technology, we’ve moved away from traditional messy impressions. Now, we can digitally scan your teeth to obtain a precise description, ensuring the ideal fit for your crown. We will also choose a shade of white to perfectly match the surrounding teeth.
Step 3

Develop temporary crown for protection

In the concluding phase of the initial procedure, we’ll fashion a temporary crown to safeguard your tooth. This temporary crown will be worn for about two weeks while the lab works on constructing your permanent, ideal crown.

Step 4

Polish your dental crown & bond securely

Finally, your crown will return from our dental lab, polished and gleaming. Numbing your tooth is typically unnecessary during this step. With care, we remove your temporary crown and secure your final crown in place. Adjustments are usually unnecessary. Subsequently, we take a single radiograph to confirm its proper fit before securely cementing your final crown.
